Ferrie Selected for
Agriculture Training Program
John C. Ferrie, III, president of Fresh Cut®, Inc. in Egg Harbor Township has been selected to be among
21 enrollees in the New Jersey Agricultural leadership Development
Program, Class of 2001.
The New Jersey
Agricultural Leadership Development Program is an executive training
program for agricultural producers and business people. The programs
advisory committee selected participants after a competitive statewide
search that included interviews and applications from 15 counties.
All individuals are ages 22 to 46 and are actively involved in production
agriculture or in industries related to agriculture.
Over the next
two years, Ferrie will attend a series of 10 multi-day, in-state
seminars and two study/travel seminars; one to Washington, D.C.,
and the second in an international location.
Seminar topics
focus on leadership and communication skill development, agricultural
infrastructure and policies. Also covered are agricultural economics,
marketing, land use and preservation, resource management and the
environment, social issues and understanding state, federal, and
local government, as well as international issues related to globalism
and trade.
The goal of
the program is to create informed, articulate leaders who can promote
the interests of agriculture and agri-business by working with public
and private organizations, media, and government to promote agriculture
in the Garden State.
The New Jersey
Agricultural Society and the State Department of Agriculture, New
Jersey Farm Bureau and Rutgers Universitys Cook College sponsor
the program.
