Ferrie Selected for Agriculture Training Program
John C. Ferrie, III, president of Fresh Cut®, Inc. in Egg Harbor Township has been selected to be among 21 enrollees in the New Jersey Agricultural leadership Development Program, Class of 2001.

The New Jersey Agricultural Leadership Development Program is an executive training program for agricultural producers and business people. The program’s advisory committee selected participants after a competitive statewide search that included interviews and applications from 15 counties. All individuals are ages 22 to 46 and are actively involved in production agriculture or in industries related to agriculture.

Over the next two years, Ferrie will attend a series of 10 multi-day, in-state seminars and two study/travel seminars; one to Washington, D.C., and the second in an international location.

Seminar topics focus on leadership and communication skill development, agricultural infrastructure and policies. Also covered are agricultural economics, marketing, land use and preservation, resource management and the environment, social issues and understanding state, federal, and local government, as well as international issues related to globalism and trade.

The goal of the program is to create informed, articulate leaders who can promote the interests of agriculture and agri-business by working with public and private organizations, media, and government to promote agriculture in the Garden State.

The New Jersey Agricultural Society and the State Department of Agriculture, New Jersey Farm Bureau and Rutgers University’s Cook College sponsor the program.
